Representing the Western part of Anjou, Anjou Noir («Black Anjou») is named after its subsoil. In contrast to Anjou Blanc («White Anjou») laying on limestone in the Saumur area, Anjou Noir lays on schists soils from the Armorican Massif. The "Anjou Noir" cuvée, resulting from a blend of four plots, representative of the overall Belargus estate, is a pure transcription of Chenin growing on schists rocks.
