The Domaine de Vaccelli is located in Cognocoli-Monticchi, in Corsica. The family estate was bought in the 1960s by the Courrèges family, after the independence of Algeria. Its owner, Gérard Courrèges (son of Alain Courrèges) has been producing wines since the 1970s under the appellations of AOC Ajaccio, Vin de Pays de l'Île de Beauté but also Vin de France. Today, the vineyard extends over 27 hectares planted with many grape varieties, including a large part of native grape varieties. The vineyard is conducted in certified organic agriculture.
Vaccelli Blanc is made from Vermentinu grown on the hillsides of granite arenas. The wine is aged in eggs and in demi-muids. Vaccelli Blanc has an aging potential of 4 to 6 years.
A cuvée from organically grown vines planted on deep sandy granitic soils. These vines are on a cooler terroir than the other white grape varietal parcels of the Estate, with manual harvesting and controlled yields.
Floral expression on the nose, quickly followed by notes of buttered apples, citrus, garrigue. Elegant, mineral and structured mouthfeel, good freshness and finish on fine bitters. Very nice ageing potential. Drink now or cellar 10 years. 100% Vermentinu.
