Terroir:
Located in the rugged terroir of Séguret in the Côtes du Rhône Villages, Domaine Boutinot sources grapes from the "Les Turcs" vineyard. This high-altitude, east-facing vineyard features stony, argillaceous limestone terraces, contributing to the wine's unique minerality and complexity. The vines, some over 50 years old, are predominantly Grenache Noir interspersed with Syrah.
Winemaking:
The grapes are hand-picked and undergo traditional vinification with a long maceration using indigenous yeasts. Regular remontage (pumping over) is performed to maximize extraction. The wine is aged for 22 months in a combination of 228-liter barrels and 600-liter demi-muids, using a mix of new, second, and third-fill French oak.
Tasting Notes:
This wine presents a polished nose with layers of exotic spices, black pepper, and vanilla. The palate is smooth and appealing, with deep, rich flavors of Grenache complemented by the structure provided by Syrah. It finishes with great length and a satisfying complexity.
