Terroir:
The vineyards are situated between the Berici Hills and Gambellara in the Veneto region, characterized by a combination of dark volcanic soils and white, mineral-rich sedimentary rock. This diverse soil composition imparts unique mineral qualities to the wines.
Viticulture:
Practicing biodynamic viticulture, Marcobarba minimizes interventions to maintain harmony with the vineyard ecosystem. Grapes are sourced from abandoned vineyards in the town of Madonna di Lonigo, featuring a mix of native white varieties, some well-known and others less so.
Winemaking:
The grapes undergo spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts in large concrete vats. The wine is then aged for nine months in the same concrete vessels. It is bottled unfiltered with a minimal addition of sulfur dioxide (16 mg/L), preserving its natural character.
Tasting Notes:
Barbabianca 2021 is crisp and full of energy, balancing the driving acidity of fresh lemon and lime with fleshy fruit characters. There's red apple and pear, and a touch of elderflower floral notes—essential summer drinking
